Opening Prayer:

**Opening Hymn: Good Christian Men Rejoice 151

**Call to Worship: Hebrews 10:19-25

M: Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,

C: by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh,

M: and having a High Priest over the house of God,

C: let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith,

M: having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

C: Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering,

M: for He who promised is faithful.

C: And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,

M: not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some,

C: but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

Summary of the Law: Matthew 22:37-40

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

**Prayer of Confession: Almighty and most merciful Father; we have erred, and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against thy holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done; and there is no health in us. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare thou them, O God, which confess their faults. Restore thou them that are penitent; according to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake; that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous and sober life. To the Glory of thy holy Name. Amen.

The Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds;

God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father by whom all things were made.

Who, for us men and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate;

He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of the Father;

and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the living and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of life; who proceedeth from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets.

And I believe one holy catholic and apostolic church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

Sermon Outline:

1. God is faithful in His essence.

2. God is faithful to His covenant.

3. God is faithful in preserving His people.
